This will be a different kind of assignment than the rest.  What I would like for you to do is watch the interview clip posted below and write a brief summary of what you understand to be Elfman’s approach to film composing.  Please include specific references to films and interactions mentioned in the interview.  Also feel free to include any other information you found interesting or unusual.  Then, watch the posted clips from some of Elfman’s film scores and briefly describe how you think each demonstrates his approach.  Does it surprise you from watching these clips that Elfman considers Bernard Herrmann a strong influence?
