Assignment

Description

For my assignment, I had to pick a specific work of art that was presented in the lectures and do some further reading about it (in the manner of a scholarly journal article), and then write a short review of my source. The purpose of this assignment is for me to get used to searching for peer-reviewed academic sources on reliable databases, and for developing my sense of some of the potential directions that research can take me. The article I end up reading must relate to the topic of the course but does not have to be solely concerned with the work of art selected. The review should include a summary of the author’s thesis and arguments, as well as an evaluation of the author’s effectiveness at presenting their argument. Critical reviews should be more than just summaries of the source, they need to elucidate what is both good and bad in the source and consider the source in the position of wider scholarship.
